I have recently read an article about a famous painter from Denmark who during World War II made copies of the original works of art and then sold them to Germans for millions, to protect his country from being occupied during the war. He was so talented that nobody spotted that the paintings were fake while the originals were hidden by the Dutch museum at the time.
After the war was over there was an investigation and he went to jail for selling fake paintings to Germany.
He did this to protect his country. What he did was wrong but his actions ended up saving lives in Denmark...
Does he deserve to be in jail for what he did?, or is he a hero?
I have mixed feelings about this issue.
